Atletico Madrid are taking an increasingly keen interest in 25-yar-old (26 next February) Dutch international (he has 30 caps and has scored 3 goals) Stefan De Vrig, according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica.
He is currently playing at Italian Serie A side Lazio, whom he joined on 30 July 2014 for an undisclosed fee.
He is a player we have been keeping tabs on and have sent scouts to watch, as have PSG, Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Manchester United.
His contract expires in 2018 so Lazio president Claudio Lotito has confirmed that his centre-back will be sold. Thye can not afford to keep him and let him go for free next summer in the same way that Everton can't keep Ross Barkley and let him leave for free next summer.
Lazio are looking for a fee of between 15-20 million euros for their man (£12.9m - £17.29m).
