Inter Milan have not activated the purchase clause for 25-year-old (26 next February) Brazilian central-midfielder Rafinha Alcantara, commonly known simply as Rafinha, who was on loan from Barcelona. That loan, of course, ends at the official end of the season, 30 June, the point where all contracts run from.
The suggested fee the Spanish champions want for him is £30.86 million (€35m) and the story emanates from Catalan newspaper Sport.
Pochettino is not the only manager interested in him, a host of clubs around Europe are taking note and some reports suggest Arsenal have already made a bid.
Tuttosport in Italy suggests Inter snubbed Rafinha because they came to an agreement with Roma to sign Nainggolan for £25.57 million (€29m) plus midfielder Nicoló Zaniolo.
Rafinha is currently enjoying a holiday in Thailand, but agents do the negotiating and thoughts are he would like something resolved soon. Of course, the problem with Barcelona is they insist on buy-back clauses at set prices for all transfers and that is something we simply won't entertain.
Comically it was being claimed as a done deal to West Ham by some folk on Twitter. He will undoubtedly want Champions Lague football so would be highly unlikely to consider West Ham as a destination with better options available to him.
That story may have emanated from Spanish outlet Don Balon, a standing joke when it comes to transfer stories, They suggest West Ham would be willing to pay £35.27 million (€40m), so more than Barcelona are actually asking! I think that sums up that story.
