The Internet Has Brainwashed Supporters
Newcastle and Spurs have gone in different directions |
People are brainwashed all the time on the Internet, you see it constantly with promises of instant success by pushing a button in the Internet Marketing niche.
It is utter nonsense, but people fall for it time and time again.
That makes them want that return in everything they do…
Or they just don’t do it.
It’s totally unrealistic.
So the belief that masses of success is there without you putting much effort in, actually prevents your success.
Communication has advanced from the runner, the stagecoach, the Horseman, the letter, the telephone, telex, telegrams to the Internet we have today.
Communication is now instant and that has meant everyone wants everything instantly.
A section of our fans will tell you we have only won one trophy, the 2008 League Cup, in all our time with ENIc and Daniel Levy.
That is true, but they fail to take into account the reasons why, we simply were not a rich enough club.
Joe Lewis's money is not Tottenham Hotspurs money.
Newcastle United were challenging for a Champions League place in 2011/12, they finished 5th. Spurs finished 4th, 4 points ahead of them.
Tottenham were the 6th richest club in the country, Newcastle United were the 7th richest club.
Since then Spurs have finished 5th, 6th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd and 3rd.
Newcastle have finished 16th, 10th, 15th, 18th and relegated,1stin the Championship and promoted and 10th.
Our fortunes have gone in opposite directions because we have built our income and they haven't.
If you leave matters to just on the field you can not afford the wages of the standard of player you need. Rafa Benitez was unhappy he had hardly any transfer budget with the owner telling him to improve the players he had.
Are Newcastle considered our rivals now?
Chelsea finished 6th, Everton 7th, Liverpool 8th, Fulham 9th, WBA 10th, Swansea City 11th, Norwich City 12th, Sunderland 13th, Stoke City 14th, Wigan Athletic 15th, Aston Villa 16th, QPR 17th, Bolton Wanderers 18th, Blackburn Rovers 19th and Wolverhampton Wanderers 20th.
Three of those teams remain in the Premier League, Newcastle went down, came back up and finished 10th last season and two have just been promoted back, the rest are Championship or below.
Why? Because they didn't build the club off the field to pay for on the field, they just spent income on wages and for none of them did it work.
That is the route the anti-Levy group want us to take, to gamble, to pay the wages of top players, like giving in to Toby Alderweireld and paying him £185,000 a week.
We are in the position we are in because of Daniel Levy, not in spite of him.
They will tell you there were points where if only we had gambled.
I have just given you the reason not to gamble, it didn't work for the rest of the clubs in the Premier League, Outside of the top 6, only one club has survived, Everton.
The stark reality of football, the stark reality at Tottenham is that income has to rise to take us to the next level. When that is achieved the side can jump to the next level.
Now is the time to be cheering the side on, not berating the club for tiny details or because they are not pursuing the same agenda that has seen the other clubs fail.
