Tottenham have had a string of injuries after 9 players returned late after the World Cup, where we had more players go further in the tournament than any other club.
That placed pressure on us as tired players are more likely to pick up injuries through fatigue than fresh players, particularly muscle injuries and we have had a few of those.
Over half our senior squad have had an injury this season and we are only half way through it!
Erik Lamela (illness) – returned to training with the squad yesterday following a calf injury but is unavailable for tomorrow’s match due to illness.
Eric Dier (appendicitis) – commenced on-field reconditioning. Victor Wanyama (knee) - continuing outdoor rehabilitation.
Mousa Dembele (ankle).- has returned to training with the squad today but remains unavailable.
Jan Vertonghen (thigh) - has returned to training with the squad today but remains unavailable.
Pochettino has held his press conference and has spoken about Christian Eriksen, who as I have reported regularly is waiting for Real Madrid to see if they are going to firm up interest and make an approach.
"Football is dynamic. It's about interests the manager sometimes can't manage. Eriksen is important to us. You'd like this type of player with you, but it's a negotiation. It would be fantastic if he commits long-term but he has every right to do what he wants."
Real Madrid are the biggest name in football and it is natural for every player to want to play for them. It has nothing to do with offering more money, Real Madrid have won the last three UEFA Champions League finals and have picked up the trophy four times in the last five years.
Signing a top player is going to make no difference, nor is £200,000-a-week. No club can compete with the romantic pull of Real Madrid, it's as simple as that.
The Danish international, who has now been involved in 100 Premier League goals (45 , 55 ) in just 189 appearances (debut 2013) has provided more assists than anyone (55), created more chances than any other player (501) since making his debut.
In addition, no player has scored more goals outside the box than him (18).
A huge valuation can be justified in a football world where statistics play a very important part in recruitment.
